Velotric Breeze 1
Some of the highest quality ebikes I've ever reviewed — and the whole bike weighs just 48 lb. Whisper-silent motor, instant torque-sensor power, and 27.6 mph on the throttle in my testing. They're not cheap, but they're well, well worth it.

Flat ground, throttle only. The bike's speedometer read 27.6 mph and my GPS agreed — that's the 28 mph cutoff doing its job.

Throttle only up a long 15% grade — hit about 16 mph before the hill, then held 11–12 mph the whole way up. “It's getting me up this massive long hill with zero effort, no problems whatsoever.”

My standard lamp-standard-to-driveway throttle run. Under my 20 mph fast-bike benchmark, but better than I feared from 65 Nm. “I was expecting much slower, to be perfectly honest with you guys. 18 miles an hour is not too bad.”

Slammed both Tektro hydraulic levers from 28 mph and stopped within my roughly 20 ft marker — laying rubber down on the way.

Set it and sit back — the Breeze held 20 mph with no throttle and no pedaling.

Pedal assist stepped up roughly 10–11, 15, 20, then 25–27 mph — and pedaling hard in PAS 5 I saw up to 32 mph. “For an ebike that rewards you for pedaling, if you want to go fast with a bike like this, that's how you do it.”
About these numbers: Every run was on the stock Kenda road tires at about 40 PSI. Speeds come off the bike's speedometer, which matched my GPS the whole ride, and the braking distance is against the same roughly 20 ft marker I use for every bike.

The Bike Cave Verdict
Ben's Take
I think the new Velotric Breeze 1 is going to make someone's first ebike a really good first ebike. Velotric makes some of the highest quality ebikes I've ever reviewed on the channel — I'd put these up there with high-end bikes from Specialized, Trek and Giant. Nothing rattles on this bike, the electronics are on point, it's UL certified so you have zero fire issues or doubt, and the whole ride has been absolutely a joy to be on. They're not cheap, but they're well, well worth it. And if you don't want to look like you're riding an ebike, at a glance this doesn't look like a big fat chunky ebike — you can go unnoticed no problem.
👍 What I loved
- Some of the highest quality ebikes I've ever reviewed — up there with Specialized, Trek and Giant
- UL certified with zero fire issues or doubt, plus over a thousand bike shops across America for service
- Surprisingly smooth ride with no suspension — the large-diameter wheels roll right over potholes
- Torque sensor gives instantaneous, natural power, and SensorSwap flips to cadence mode by holding the M button
- Whisper-silent motor — I never heard it whine the whole ride
- Light at 48 lb, and it pedals easily even with zero assist on the low-rolling-resistance slick tires
👎 What to know
- The 65 Nm motor is modest on acceleration — I only hit 18 mph in my standard throttle test
- In cadence mode the power cuts off harder than it comes on, and can lag until the cranks make a full revolution
- The slick road tires are not made for loose surfaces, so I had to be careful on gravel
- “Puncture resistant” tire claims are marketing — any tire will go flat if you hit something sharp
